Facilities Planning Update
During the 2022–2023 school year, we conducted a community survey to gather input on the condition of our district’s aging and inefficient facilities. Several key themes emerged, providing valuable insight that has guided our long-term planning:
Facility Reduction for Efficiency
Many community members recommended reducing the number of buildings we operate to lower operational costs and use resources more efficiently.
Improved Campus Layout
Feedback pointed to concerns with the current campus design. There is strong support for creating a more cohesive layout—particularly ensuring that activity spaces are located near our secondary students.
Enhanced Security & Accessibility
Respondents emphasized the importance of secure building entrances and eliminating the need for students to move between facilities during the school day.
This community input has been instrumental in shaping our discussions and planning efforts.
Maintaining and operating all of our current facilities has become increasingly expensive. In response, the district has developed a comprehensive plan to reduce costs, make more efficient use of space, and improve the educational experience for our students.
In April, we conducted a second survey to gather feedback on a proposed plan developed from the 2022–2023 survey results. This plan addresses unmet student needs and outlines changes designed to bring our facilities up to 2025 standards—so we can stop sinking money into outdated and inefficient buildings.
